Polar bear was created as part of London Sustainability Weeks and was made from recycled materials. The central structure was covered in newspaper and magazine headlines about global warming, collected by Ana Antonio Gill on DLR and bus journeys between Hackney, Bank and Canary Wharf.
Polar Bear is an expression of today’s world with its magnificence and its beauty; its problems and its disputes. The work highlights the plight of polar bears – and the planet – as a result of climate change.
The sculpture was exhibited at The Love London Recycled Sculpture Show – part of London Sustainability Weeks.
