Possessions play an important part in our lives. Material objects can acquire meaning and become objects of memory. Possessions can therefore be seen as a reflection of a person’s identity.
The Value of Memories auction investigated relationships between the values placed upon sentimental objects by their owners and the perceived value of the objects to members of the public bidding in the auction. Ana Antonio Gill conceived the concept behind the event and the auction was conducted by a professional, television auctioneer.
